Commitment

The Political Declaration includes new commitments and bold new targets with a view to guiding and intensifying the global response to HIV and AIDS by promoting continued political commitment and engagement of leaders in a comprehensive response to halt and reverse the HIV epidemic and mitigate its impact.

Target

Concrete targets for 2015 include:

  • Reducing sexual transmission of HIV by 50%
  • Elimination of mother-to-child transmission and substantially reducing AIDS-related maternal deaths
  • Reducing tuberculosis deaths in people living with HIV by 50%
  • Have 15 million people on antiretroviral treatment
