London Family Planning Summit commitment

Date of commitment:
July 2012

The British Government and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation brought together representatives from governments, the private sector, donors and civil society groups who pledged to halve the number of women in developing countries who want, but lack access to, modern contraception.‬

Donors made new financial commitments of $2.6 billion to support plans in more than 20 developing countries to address the policy, financing and delivery barriers to women accessing contraceptive information, services and supplies. These resources will ensure delivery of contraceptives to an additional 120 million women and girls by 2020. Details on donor commitments are available here.
